How Do I File for Unemployment Insurance?

To file an unemployment claim, you need:

  • Your social security number
  • Your Wisconsin driver's license number, if you have one
  • A Personal Identification Number (PIN)
  • A PIN is a four-digit number that you choose. Your PIN is used together with your social security number to identify you whenever you use our system. Follow instructions to choose your PIN. If you have previously used a PIN in our telephone system, use that same PIN on the Internet. If you forgot your PIN, follow instructions to choose a new PIN

You will be asked to verify your employers including their mailing addresses and the dates you worked in the past 18 months or since the last time you claimed.

File an Online Claim

If you do not feel comfortable filing your claim over the Internet you may use our Telephone Claims system.

Claims specialists are available Monday through Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Central Time, except holidays. Mondays, early mornings, and noon hours are our busiest times.
